BMV-712 Smart: Battery Monitor with Bluetooth built-in

The BMV-712 Smart battery monitor has to be one of the most eagerly awaited of Victron’s new products – and it is now in stock! It is the same battery monitor as the BMV-702 but with the addition of Bluetooth connectivity built into the unit. No longer will you need the Victron Bluetooth Dongle to access the Victron Connect app – it is already integrated so you can easily view the device from your smart phone or tablet.

New manual VictronConnect – MPPT Solar Charger

This new VictronConnect manual will help to get the most out of the VictronConnect App when it is connected to a MPPT Solar Charge Controller. The information available applies to all BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT Charge Controllers which are compatible with VictronConnect.

Australian CEC approval for SmartSolar

The SmartSolar 150/85 and 150/100 MPPT Solar Chargers, both the TR and MC4 models, have been approved by the Australian Clean Energy Council. The following model numbers will be visible on the approved inverters list on the CEC Accreditation website:

Raspberry Pi running Victron’s Venus firmware

Ever wanted to run the Color Control GX/Venus GX firmware on a Raspberry Pi? Now you can, thanks to Izak Burger whose guest blog describes how this came to pass. Note that using a RaspberryPi with the Venus OS is a nice gimmick for tech-savvy consumers to get low-cost monitoring for their Victron equipment. It is not intended to use in professional installations that need to run 24/7. Which we have also indicated in the manual: “the Raspberry Pi image is a community effort: do not contact our service department or sales managers with questions about it".
