The new firmware releases for all SmartSolar and BlueSolar MPPT Solar Charge Controllers include improvements to overall product reliability, along with a few bug fixes.
Key updates for models running v3.18 firmware
- Several internal improvements to overall reliability.
- Fixed a communication issue with the VE.Bus BMS v2 and VE.Bus BMS NG, which prevented the charger from going into safe mode when the BMS is removed from the system.
Key updates for models running v1.74 firmware
- Several internal improvements to overall reliability
- Settings lock support added for models with a pluggable display.
- Improved load output startup reliability.
- Removed the history menu from being accessible via the optional pluggable display accessory.

How to update:
Which firmware applies, ie. v1.xx or v3.xx, depends on the Solar Charger model. There is no need to worry about installing the wrong firmware, the Solar Chargers will never accept a firmware update of the wrong type. And both the VRM Portal as well as the VictronConnect App will always select the right version automatically.
- For systems connected to the VRM Portal, the recommended method is to use the VRM Remote firmware update feature. Refer to the detailed instructions to learn how to do that. For more information on the VRM Portal, see here.
- For any other systems, either wait for when the firmware is available in the VictronConnect App, expected in a few weeks. Or, download the file from the firmware library on Victron Professional, and then use the VictronConnect App self-supplied file update method.
