Problems switching a large VE.Bus system on with a CCGX

We have recently discovered a hardware issue in the Color Control GX: under certain conditions it will not be able to switch a VE.Bus system consisting of 5 or more devices on. The exact maximum of devices that a CCGX can switch on depends on the temperature and some other variables. Systems of five units can have this problem. And systems with more devices in them are also more likely to have this problem. How these devices are configured, in parallel, split- or three-phase is not important. The only thing that matters is the number of Inverters, Multis or Quattros in the VE.Bus system.

Solution: There is a new product, the “CCGX dongle for large VE.Bus systems”, that needs to be added to such a system. The part number of this dongle is BPP900300100. Attached you’ll find its instructions.

Work around without the dongle: In case this problem appears in systems where there is no dongle installed, the user needs to:

  1. Unplug the VE.Bus cable from the back of the CCGX
  2. Let the system switch itself on (might be necessary to switch the units off and back on with their rocker switch)
  3. Reconnect the CCGX after the system has switched on

Note that a long time ago, plugging a CCGX into a system would make it switch off immediately. This has been changed a long time ago, in 2013. All recent firmware versions, 1xx, 2xx and 4xx will not switch off when you plug in a CCGX.
