The Color Control GX was launched in 2013 as the first-generation GX device and marked the beginning of what has become one of Victron’s most important product lines. Today, GX devices remain one of Victron's unique selling points in the market.

The growing ecosystem of integrations, hardware support and our new user interface have outgrown the capabilities of the Color Control GX, and we have therefore decided to retire it.

Firmware updates

Victron's latest Venus OS for GX-devices firmware versions demand more from the hardware than the Color Control GX can provide. Therefore, newer versions, such as the currently available Venus OS v3.62, are not offered for the Color Control GX, and the recommended firmware version for the Color Control GX remains v3.55.

While it is technically possible to install newer versions via USB stick, this is only suitable for smaller systems. A system with a MultiPlus, SmartShunt and two Solar Chargers is already at or beyond the limits of what the Color Control GX can handle when running v3.60 or later.

If necessary, for example to address critical bug fixes, updates to Venus OS v3.5x will be made available for the CCGX.

Availability for sale and RMA service

The Color Control GX is no longer available for purchase from Victron. A limited quantity remains in stock for OEM use only. Warranty replacement of Color Control GX will continue utilising stock on hand. Please contact your sales manager for more information.
