We are pleased to announce the release of firmware version 3.16 for SmartSolar Charger models equipped with a VE.Can port. This update addresses a critical bug in the VE.Can synchronised charging mechanism.
Bug Fix Details:
A critical bug introduced in firmware version 3.15 (released in January 2024) affected systems with two or more Solar Chargers connected in a VE.Can network. The bug could cause the chargers to skip the absorption phase daily.
The bug only impacted system where the Solar Chargers operate on their own charge algorithm. All other systems, including ESS (systems using the VE.Bus ESS Assistant), as well as systems incorporating managed batteries connected via a GX Device and that are using DVCC were impacted.
How to update:
- For systems connected to the VRM Portal, the recommended method is to use the VRM Remote firmware update feature. Refer to the detailed instructions to learn how to do that. For more information on the VRM Portal, see here.
- For any other systems, either wait for the next release of the VictronConnect App to be released, expected in a few weeks. Or, download the file from the firmware library on Victron Professional, and then use the VictronConnect App self-supplied file update method.
For more information, see the firmware update section of the SmartSolar manual as well as the full change log which is available in the firmware library on Victron Professional.
