Last newsletter was already four weeks (!) ago, and as such this edition is a long one. To start, there are three new product(-series) presented in this newsletter:
- GX Touch 50 adapter for CCGX cut-out: a plastic adapter that allows mounting a GX Touch 50 in a cut-out shaped for the CCGX, i.e. replacing a CCGX by a Cerbo. Still in the works is a wall-mount for the GX Touch 50, which we hope to have in stock by the end of this year.
- A new series of busbars, 150A, 250A and 600A, information and link to the new product page on our website below. And note that we also updated the related product page, Fuses & fuse holders.
- GX LTE 4G series: these cellular modems are the replacing the GX GSM.
Furthermore, a new version of Venus OS was released, version v2.60, and we made a change in the Solar Charger 100/20 range, to reduce the number of part numbers.
All the above, and much more is all explained in detail below. We'll leave it at this and wish you a good week!
Venus OS v2.60 released
After quite a long development & field testing cycle, we have released Venus OS version v2.60. Which marks a milestone. Unlike the minor updates of the previous months, ie. v2.51 up to and including v2.58, this new version adds a whole list of major improvements and new features.
Besides the major changes it contains many smaller ones, more so than any previous release. In short the highlights of this update are:
1) Fully featured NMEA2000-out function
2) Marine MFD HTML5 App improvements
3) ESS: new feed-in limiter and Ethernet connected Energy Meter
4) Tank level monitoring
5) Adding the GX LTE 4G modem
In this blog post you can find more information about Venus OS v2.60.

BlueSolar & SmartSolar MPPT Charge controllers 100/20
To reduce part numbers we're phasing out the BlueSolar/SmartSolar MPPT Charge Controller 100/20 (for 12/24V). They are replaced by the (formerly more expensive) special BlueSolar/SmartSolar MPPT Charge Controller 100/20-48V, which already works for all voltages. In production, we changed the default software setting: it used to be preselected for 48V, now it’s on auto-detect, like all other solar chargers. The load output is rated for, and protected at-, the full 20A. Just like the phased-out model was. And at 48V it’s still 1A.
To summarise: no changes to load output behaviour. And also no other changes. The only change is that there are now two 100/20 models, suitable for all voltages, instead of 4.
The datasheets have been updated to reflect all the above.
New and updated documents
- The MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 GX has been added to the following certificates:
Certificate ESS C10-11 MultiPlus-II (GX) 3k & 5k
Certificate ESS EN 50549-1 MultiPlus-II (GX) 3k & 5k
Certificate ESS NRS 097-2-1 MultiPlus-II (GX) 3k & 5k
Certificate ESS RD1699-2011 y RD413-2014 MultiPlus-II (GX) 3k & 5k Spain - In both datasheets BlueSolar Charger and SmartSolar Charger MPPT 75/10, 75/15, 100/15, 100/20_48V the table has been updated.
- The table in the datasheet Phoenix Inverter Smart 1600 VA - 3000 VA has been corrected. Peak Power stated VA, this is corrected to Watts.

The sun – a Poultry farmer’s friend and foe
Off-Grid Spanish Turkey Farming with Pylontech
Ventilation and climate control account for most of the electricity consumption in a poultry farm. In a warm climate, like Spain’s, the summer season brings a considerable increase in electricity consumption – particularly at night, so that a reliable electricity supply is an absolute must. The challenge is designing a system which supplies the farm’s energy needs 24 hours a day – plus contingency. This is the challenge that Cambio Energetico decided to take up for their client JAVEPA S.L. – a modern turkey farmer in Zamora with a 2480m2 unit under a thermal ‘sandwich’ construction roof.

My conversion to Lithium (and Cerbo) – by Stefanie
Yacht Taku Moe - electrical refit
Sailors and recreational vehicle adventurers will remember Stefanie’s last year’s blog, entitled Sailing with Signal K. In it she described her implementation of data coms connectivity – allowing her yacht’s various electronic devices to talk to each other …and to her.
During Lockdown she’s been busy again – converting her yacht to Lithium, and exploring the extensive range of communication ports on her new Cerbo GX which lies at the heart of this system.

Sustainable Herb Growing
The power of the sun
Since 1946 Herman Kraeuter have been growing herbs for chefs and the home in Neuss, Rheinbogen.
Now in its fourth generation the family owned business produces 200 tons annually of over 40 herb varieties. All that production consumes a lot of energy – particularly for the chilling plant, packaging machines and greenhouse lighting.
Organic herbs are included in their range – in fact sustainability is at the heart of everything they do. So they asked IBC Solar – who have been experts in the solar energy industry for the last 38 years – to supply design a private energy system for their factory operations.
