Updated VictronConnect released - Solar Charger improvements and more

An update for VictronConnect has been released and has a lot of improvements. Automechanika Johannesburg started yesterday, we hope to see you there. We continue the blog-story about the dog Shackleton and her crew aboard the Stødig on their way to the Arctic Circle. And there is a blogpost about a solar powered market in Nigeria. Updated VictronConnect

Solar Charger improvements and (much) more

This release includes Solar Charger firmware v1.42, a major improvement. Also, VictronConnect no longer enforces firmware updates, it now warns when Bluetooth is still configured with the default PIN code, plus it contains the latest VE.Bus firmware files and many more improvements.

Documentation update

We have the following new and/or updated documentation for you:
In all the following manuals we have replaced the diagram in appendix F: Temperature compensation.

 
The maximum current MC4 has been added to the table under 3) in the following datasheet:

The table in the datasheet - Blue Smart IP65 charger 230V has been updated and we added the MagCode Power Clip to the  list of accessories

In the manual Lithium iron phosphate batteries Smart in section 3 Installation, the following change has been made for the LiFePO4 Battery 12.8V / 300Ah Smart: 40 Nm (M12) has been adjusted to 20 Nm (M10).

In de manual Phoenix Smart IP43 charger there are a few changes/additions in section 5 Charging algorithms and we added Battery Capacity and the number of battery connections to the table.

Commencing yesterday, until Saturday 21st September, is Automechanika Johannesburg – and the entry is free. It is being held at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Corner Nasrec & Randshow Roads, Johannesburg, 2091.

Solar energy excitement in Nigeria

World recognition for huge Solar-Powered Market

The market at Sabon Gari in Kano state, Nigeria, has 12,000 shops where you can buy everything from vegetables to visual arts.
Grid electricity supply problems resulted in 72% of the shops which needed electricity deciding to generate their own power using petrol and diesel generators.
The Federal Government of Nigeria launched Energising Economies Initiative (EEI), to focus on building a reliable energy infrastructure at this market together with Nigerian based off-grid energy specialist Rensource.

 

Shackleton reaches Arctic Circle

After three months voyaging, converted lifeboat Stødig & crew reach the Arctic Circle

On August 28th just over three months and 4,000km since their departure, Shackleton and her crew aboard the converted lifeboat Stødig have now crossed the line of latitude that marks the Arctic Circle.

Now they are only a month away from their destination Tromsø, which will be used as a base to explore Arctic Norway.
