EM24 Energy Meter is back in stock

For most countries using the EM24 Energy Meter is better for the three phase ESS Systems than using the ET340.
One difference is its more frequent updating of the rate/capacity measurements.
The other difference is the way in which it counts and calculates energy 'sold' to the grid versus the energy ‘bought'.
For more information see our Energy Meters manual.

New technical forum

Called Victron Community, it provides a new place to learn about Victron products in real world applications at any pace and share knowledge with others. It is targeted to do-it-yourself end-users, installers and if they wish also distributors, to discuss technical mattersin a collaborative and mutually supportive way.

To be clear: Victron Community does not replace our official support channels. The official channel for technical support for distributors is and remains the sales manager. Customers are also still advised to contact a Victron distributor for support, sales and system advice. The full process is explained to the public on our website here .

To date the community has been quite a success with already over 800 answered questions; and 80-90 new questions being answered each week. So far over 80% of the answers have been provided by other users or distributors, and this is growing. Victron Staff are providing the other 20%.

Lead-acid battery charging in cold weather

Charging lead-acid batteries in cold (and indeed hot) weather needs special consideration, primarily due to the fact a higher charge-voltage is required at low temperatures and a lower voltage at high temperatures.

DIY ingenuity: Hydro Power MkII – art 1

You may recall a year ago a blog about Hydro Power, in which Markus Pauritsch used a MPPT solar charge controller loaded and driven by a Pelton wheel water turbine to charge his off-grid cabin battery system in the Austrian Alps.
Things have moved on; the installation has now grown by necessity. Whilst the original install had worked well, that all came to a halt when a summer storm turned the hydro supply stream into a torrent.
