VE.Bus firmware v507 & v508 - fix for fan noise issues in MP-II & Quattro-II Error 11

We've recently released two VE.Bus firmware versions v507 & v508. Here are the changes:

v507

  • Fix noisy/erroneous fan driving for:
  1. MultiPlus-II 24/3000/70-32 (PMP242305010); HQ2229 Up to and including HQ2337
  2. MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 (PMP482305010); HQ2226 Up to and including HQ2339
  3. MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 (PMP482505010); HQ2225 Up to and including HQ2317

Not all units within those serial number ranges are affected. To see if a unit is affected, see “202311 – MP-II serial numbers with FAN calibration issue.xlsx” in the firmware update section of Victron Professional.

For any affected unit, we recommend installing the firmware update. Doing that will significantly reduce the generated noise level.

v508

  • Improved Solar/Wind priority mechanism
  • Improved Quattro-II relay testing mechanism to prevent false Error 11 reports.

Aside from fixing issues that caused unnecessary Error 11 shutdowns, this change to Error 11 behaviour includes a noticeable change for the user. When the relay error lasts for more than 5 minutes the unit now generates a warning, and indicates with a short flash of all LEDs every 5 seconds. This will last until the batteries are running low, then the warning changes to an E11 error code.

All together, this is quite a noteworthy improvement of the Quattro-II and its reliability. Our apologies for anyone who has needlessly searched to find the root cause of unreproducible Error 11 relay shutdowns, and be assured we're meanwhile looking how to further improve the robustness.

How to install:

WARNING: updating the firmware of VE.Bus inverter/chargers is strongly advised to be carried out by trained personnel only. Performing the update will cause all settings to be reset to their default & require the product to be reconfigured.

A new version of VictronConnect v5.100, that includes the latest firmware version has also been released. Alternatively you can update via the VRM Remote Firmware update method.
